Year 1 and Year 2 Cross Country October 2017

We had a great morning at the Year 1 and Year 2 Warriner Partnership Cross Country Event on Tuesday 31st October. The weather was kind to us, cool and cloud but dry. There was a great atmosphere, lots of children and it was lovely to be looked after by two of last year's Year 6s.

The boys race was first and they quickly off the mark. Getting round the first corner was interesting as the starting line was so wide but the field of runners eventually settled down and found their running rhythms. The course was all round one of The Warriner's fields which included two rugby pitches and a football pitch.

Our boys did fantastically well with Isaac coming second, closely followed by Harry who came 3rd and Toby came 10th, so all three boys will go through to the next round. The rest of the boys were close behind and all of them showed great determination and resilience to keep going.

Then it was the turn of the girls. A much more orderly start and clearer markings to first post meant the girls quickly settled down to their running pace. The girls also did fantastically well with Hattie coming 4th overall and the other girls coming close behind her.

Next we found out the team results. The the boys Dr Radcliffe's came 2nd  overall and the girls came 4th overall.

It was a great morning and the 20 children who took part were a credit to themselves and the school, showing get sportsmanship to each other and other schools. Well done Year 1 and Year 2.
