Science - Chocolate fossils - Dec
We have been learning about the process of fossilisation as part of our rocks and soils topic in Science. Today we made chocolate fossils to gain a better understanding of the process.
We pushed a plastic toy animal into salt dough to represent an animal dying and being covered by layers and layers of sediment, which harden over time and form a mould around the animal. We then filled our mould with melted chocolate to show how minerals fill the space where the animal remains would have been and then make a cast fossil.
Finally, after a bit of time in the fridge we uncovered our 'fossils' with impressive results!
