Pupils will cover a total of 12.1 miles prior to race day, and the finale of the challenge takes place on the day of the half marathon in front of thousands of spectators (Sunday 8th October 2017).
The Schools’ Challenge accompanies The Vitality Oxford Half Marathon and gives local primary school children of all abilities their chance to shine, literally following in the footsteps of the half marathon runners on marshalled, traffic-free roads, and then receiving their very own finisher’s medal and goody bag!
Despite the early start, all the children were extremely enthusiastic and very keen to finish the final mile of the Oxford Half Marathon Schools Challenge. Not only did all children finish but they did it incredibly fast times!
Thank you so much to all the parents for coming along to support us and to Mr Fane and Mrs Goldsworthy who not only ran with the children but helped me (Becky Roberts) to ensure they all had a good time.
