Making Bread - Harvest October 2021

The school has been celebrating Harvest, with lots of donations of food being brought in to share with a local food bank in Banbury. In Class R, we have been finding out more about Harvest for farmers and the church, and we have been learning the story of The Little Red Hen.

Linked to this, we had great fun making some bread plaits with Millie from the kitchen. We had to knead our dough, roll into into a sausage shape, cut the sausage into three parts using a knife - it looked a bit like a strange octopus at this point. Then we had a go at plaiting the three pieces together before pinching and squeezing the ends together so the plait didn't come apart. Finally, Millie put our bread plaits in the oven to bake.

At the end of the day, the bread plaits were golden brown and we took them home to eat with our families - delicious!
