Bread making

As part of our discussions about Harvest in Class R, we have been learning the story of The Little Red Hen using a story map and actions to help us. The children have also enjoyed using puppets and masks to tell the story themselves in their Learning Through Play.

We were also very lucky to have a go at baking some bread with Kate and Millie who work in our kitchen cooking our lunches. Although it was a bit tricky for Kate and Millie to teach us as they needed to keep themselves safe and far enough away from the class, the children had great fun kneading bread dough, tearing it into 3 balls, rolling them into sausage shapes and then plaiting them before they were cooked in the over. Kate and Millie were very impressed and all the children were so pleased to be able to take home their warm bread plates to have as a snack with jam and butter at home.
