Transition to school

We aim to provide you and your child with a supportive and gradual introduction to our setting and school. Our prime aim is to make sure that your children build a positive relationship with the adults in the setting right from the start.

Our Home Visits will have given you and your child a chance to get to know us and for us to get to know you, thus starting our home/school relationship on a positive footing. The Stay and Play sessions will give your child a chance to get to know what the inside and outside learning environment is like, what things there are for them to explore and play with and begin to build friendships with their peers in smaller groups initially before having the whole class together.

During the first few weeks and first months of being full-time, we will gradually introduce the children to the routines and expectations of Class R, slowly adding different parts of the curriculum so that have time to process and get used to anything new. With all this in mind, we hope that all the children feel settled and happy so that they are ready and confident to move through the Autumn Term and the rest of the school year.

Below is a copy of the presentation that was shared at our Welcome Evening which will give you further details of our transition arrangements.
