Planning

Class R Curriculum intent

  • Children who are happy and engaged, which enables them to learn and progress through the development stages relevant and appropriate to each individual.
  • Children who are confident, independent, curious, communicating, taking risks, empathetic, resilient, creative, and imaginative.
  • Provide a stimulating, enabling, interesting and engaging learning environment, inside and outside, so all children can pursue their interests through first-hand learning opportunities and experiences.
  • Adults who nurture, guide, and support all children to reach the Early Learning Goals at the end of the Foundation Stage, and ensure children make at least good progress from their starting points.
  • To work in partnership with parents and carers to support their child’s learning and to encourage children to reach their full potential.  Also, to work in partnership with local pre-schools settings to ensure an effective and supportive transition to our Reception setting for each child.
  • We strongly emphasise the religious, spiritual, moral and cultural development of all our pupils. Our Christian values shape how we behave, what we say, how we build relationships and how we learn.
  • Every child is recognised as a unique individual, and we celebrate and welcome the differences within our school community.

These planning documents show a  broad outline of the skills and themes of interest we may cover during the year. Some are set and taught explicitly, but others are designed to develop the children’s interests, develop their curiosity and encourage them to form their own lines of enquiry. Adults support, guide, and challenge the children through their learning through play, enabling them to become confident, independent, curious, communicating, taking risks, empathetic, resilient, creative, and imaginative individuals.
