Year 6 – Blog Update

By Ben and Seren.

Dear Readers,

We’re sorry it’s been SUCH a long time since we last wrote a blog! Here’s everything you need to know about life in Class 6 over the last few months…

Let’s start with fundraising for our London trip! During the week of 7th - 11th of February, we rowed 181 km (The distance in km from Oxford to London on the Thames) on a rowing machine that was specially set up for us at school. For our trip we had to raise about £2000!

At our Christmas production, we did a cabaret evening, the parents sat around tables and ate/drank snack prepared by some of the Year 6 parents.

They all loved it and we hope they are excited to see our summer production "The Greatest Show"!

Before half term, the P – Factor competition took place, some of us learnt a poem of by heart, We were allowed to chose from the following four,  From a Railway Carriage, Jabberwocky, Everybody is Doing It & The Sound Collector.

Then, we voted for the top two to go into the whole school final. It was really competitive and very difficult to pick the overall winner for classes 5 & 6.

In maths we have been learning about Algebra! In English we wrote short stories to go in a whole class book which was really fun!

Our history is about London and the importance of the Thames! Before Christmas we learned about Classical Greece.

Sporting events: before half term, some boys & girls took part in a hockey tournament at Bloxham school. We are doing hockey in PE at the moment. We also sometimes do netball in football style!

Exciting news: Next week, on 10th March, we are going to London. We have to leave school really early, at 8:30 am. At 11 am, we are getting a self – directed tour of the Tower of London.

At 12:30 pm till about 12:50, we have a table booked at the Tower. After, we will jump back on the coach and have a quick zip around Westminster. At 2:30, we will head to the Adelphi Theatre to watch Back to The Future: The Musical. At 5:15 pm, we will head back to school and be back at 7:30.

Thank you for reading :0)
