Term 3 and 4
This term we are learning about the Vikings and their invasion and settlement of Britain. We are investigating how the Saxons fought back against the Vikings and how the Saxon kingdoms became united under Alfred the Great.
The class are studying Shakespeare's The Tempest and have recently had a fantastic visit to the RSC for an exciting workshop, learning about the play, performance and Shakespeare's style of writing.
We also visited the Mechanical Art and Design Museum, looking at the different automata, which followed up on our work on The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The children had a great time at the museum too and enjoyed the interactive exhibits and giant marble runs.
You can see photos of some of the things we have been up to by following the 'Gallery of Children's Work' Link.
Term 1 and 2
We have had a very busy Term 1 and, as we start term 2, are looking forward to learning and practising our class production of 'The Three Little Pigs' to be performed in the last week before Christmas.
We have learnt about the Ancient Mayans in Term 1, finding out when and where the civilisation was based and discovered a great deal about their way of life. We have been investigating reversible and irreversible changes in science and learnt about the processes of dissolving and evaporation, setting up an experiment to create crystals. We enjoyed making our own maze games in our computing lessons and have been doing some team building activities to help us develop our ability to work cooperatively.
You can see some pictures of some of the things we have been up to in the gallery section of the page, which we will keep adding to as the year progresses.
