Week 4

Week 4

This Week

This week we have been learning a new sound each week in Phonics. We have been impressed by the enthusiasm to learn new sounds in Class R.

We have been looking at the change of the season as Autumn now seems to have firmly set in and Summer has been left behind. We have been looking at various things from nature (different coloured leaves, pine cones, conkers etc). The children have been talking about where the items may have come from and have been describing the colours and textures they have observed.

Next Week:

I would just like to remind everyone that I am not in school from Wednesday to Friday next week as I am attending a family wedding. The same Supply Teacher has been booked for each of the three days.

Arriving in the morning:

We now expect children to come in by themselves in the morning. We are always on hand to help children put their belongings away and settle in for the day. If you need to speak to me it is much easier to catch me at the end of the school day.

Our doors open at 8:40 am and there are always activities set out for the children. It is important that your child enters from the garden entrance. The other door is for staff use only, even in wet weather.

At 8:50 am we tidy up and the register is completed.

If you arrive after 9 am please take your child to the main entrance and sign them in. Phonics starts promptly at 9 am and it is quite disruptive if children arrive after this time.

The Woods:

The children enjoyed their first visit to the woods this week. Class R will not be visiting The Woods next week when I am away. We are still looking for volunteers for the week after. If you have attended the school safeguarding training and have a school DBS check you are welcome to join us in The Woods.

Please make sure you child has a change of clothes for The Woods. This was listed on the original kit list.

Waterproofs:

It would be useful if you could check your child's waterproofs. After the rain this week we noted that some children's waterproofs are not very waterproof at all.
