Science - sorting animals - adults and their babies

Our Science topic this term is Animals, including humans. In our first lesson we were thinking about how to classify animals. After lots of discussion and some interesting ideas, we focused on vertebrates (have a backbone) and invertebrates (no backbone).

Then we thought about how vertebrates could be organised into groups. We agreed that there were 5 different groups - mammals, fish, reptiles, birds and amphibians. We were then set the challenge of looking at a range of pictures of animals from each category to see if we could match the adult with their baby as well as finding the correct vocabulary to name the baby.
