We have started our History topic by beginning to understand how long ago the events we are going to be learning about have taken place. First of all, we talked about our own timelines from the time we were born to being at school in Class 2. Then we started to create a timeline counting backwards from 2019 in groups of 100. Then, Mrs Goldsworthy challenged us to think about where in history some key events took place, including things we have learnt in Class 1. Finally, we worked out that the Battle of Hastings, which took place in 1066 was 953 years ago.
The rest of our lesson was finding about the events that caused the Battle of Hastings leading to William the Conqueror becoming King of England.
