Year 4 led our Harvest Festival celebrations in the church of Ss Peter and Paul, Steeple Aston. As well as retelling the story of The Parable and the Sower and The Rich Man and Lazarus, Luke 16:19-31, reference was made to The Trussle Trust.
This is the charity the church are supporting this year. The Trussell Trust runs a network of over 400 food banks, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis across the UK. The Trust partners with local communities to help stop hunger. 1 in 5 families in the UK live below the poverty line. That’s around 13 million people! The food bank, in Banbury, opened in 2012. It is a project founded by local churches and community groups working together towards stopping hunger locally. Last year they gave 1,182,954 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis in the UK. 1836 of those emergency food supplies were given to people in the local area.
Whilst we celebrate our Harvest , let us also think of those people around the world, and close to home, who are less fortunate than ourselves.
