British Science Week - March 2018

As part of British Science Week we are doing lots of fun activities.

Learning about the science behind flying a plane

We are very lucky to have Ted Pinkney (Alfie's dad) come in and give us a talk about the science behind flying a plane.

Squashed Tomatoes!!

We were set the challenge, devised by the British Science Association, of having to create a device to move a carton of tomatoes a certain distance.

The tomatoes had to be transported a minimum of one metre along the ground starting from desk height. The tomatoes could not be touched whilst they were moving, catapulted or ‘flown’ in any way. They must be moved in a controlled way, so they don’t just crash into the ground and get squashed.

We had great fun even if most of us weren't very successful!!
