Year 5 & 6 Residential - Day 3

Coame and see the fun we have had today.

We woke up today to the sun shining both in the weather and also people's outlook on the day. Following on from a lovely walk last night, all the children slept really well – in fact some didn't wake up until 7:20am!

So after another hearty breakfast of umpteen bowls of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and bacon baps, everyone was eager to get on with today's activities.

It was the turn of Mrs Sellers/Mr Lewis' group and Miss O'Sullivan's group to head off to the canal for a day of canoeing. I am delighted to announce that the biannual Dr Radcliffe's water fight happened, as the two groups crossed paths on the water. I thought it best to ask the staff, not the children, which group won, and the award goes to Mrs Sellers/Mr Lewis' group for getting the other group the wettest. I did check that all the children had fun and I am happy to say they loved it!! Apart from getting wet, both groups showed excellent canoeing skills and had a truly delightful day.

My group and Mr Fane's group stayed on site for a day of 'Jungle Gym'. My group started on the high ropes and I have to say, I have never seen a group of children traverse the course so quickly and with so much confidence. They showed excellent communication skills and were fantastic at supporting each other. Mr Fane's group started on the climbing wall. All the children were very successful and demonstrated excellent climbing skills. Both groups swapped over activities in the afternoon and continued to be amazing.

And now to the evening. Following another tasty dinner of chicken curry, rice and poppadoms, followed by jam sponge, the children are getting ready to run around the grounds taking part in competitive orienteering!

Let's just hope we all have another peaceful night.

Sleep tight,

Becky
