Come and see the fun we've had on Day 2.
Proswaith da! (check out my Welsh!). After a pretty good first night of children going to sleep before midnight, we woke up to a rather grey start with the weather. But that did not dampen our spirits and everyone was very excited about their first full day of activities.
Following on from a hearty breakfast of numerous bowls of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and croissants, we all went off in different directions across the Bannau Brycheiniog Parc (I'm becoming fluent - lol).
My group and Mr Fane's went to the canal to go canoeing. Mr Fane's group started at Pencelli and my group started at Talybont. Both groups began with learning paddle skills, including the 'pepperoni pull' and the 'pineapple push'. The aim of this was to be able to paddle left, right forwards and backwards, with the hope of manoeuvring the canoe through the water and staying dry. I was very impressed with how my group mastered these quickly and then we were off for a journey along the canal. Part way down, we crossed paths with Mr Fane's group, who seemed equally professional on the water. We refrained this year from the annual water fight but I'm sure it will occur later on in the week. We did, however, stand in the canoes to sing 'Head, shoulders, knees and jump!' I'm not entirely sure if this is included in the terms and conditions of our contracts.
Meanwhile, Mrs Sellers and Mr Lewis' group and Miss O'Sullivan's group had gone off to do caving at Porth Yr Ogof. All the children were posted through the letter box, not sure if it was First Class or Second Class post, as well as going through the toilet! All the adults were very impressed with all the children as each of them took turns to lead their groups through the caves. They chose to do a science investigation and proved that wellie boots are equally good at keeping water in as well as keeping it out.
Tea was a real treat of sausage and mash, followed by chocolate brownie with chocolate custard. I can safely say that everyone is having plenty to eat.
Tonight's activity consisted of a lovely walk through the woods to get a lovely view of the mountains. What a picturesque way to end the day.
Sleep tight everyone.
