Year 5 & 6 Residential 2026 -Day 1

Come and see what we have been up to on Day 1.

The sun was shining as we left Steeple Aston for what turned out to be a very civilised journey. In true Dr Radcliffe's style, the children clapped as we arrived at the service station, clapped when we arrived at Woodlands and even clapped when we crossed the Severn Bridge. At least that's what some children thought we were doing, as opposed to diving along a dual carriage way in Worcester! Even the question of, "Are we nearly there yet?" didn't start until about 3 hours into the journey; it was then every minute until we finally reached our final destination.

Having tackled the first challenge of carrying their bags to their dorms(a lot of teamwork was demonstrated), the children then had a tour of the grounds followed by lunch.

The children then settled do

The afternoon activity entailed team building activities in their groups. These included such activities as human skittles,  , ringing the bell, the spiderweb and a maze which was very reminiscent of the 1980s itv, children's classic, 'Knightmare'. Fun was had by all.

Now with full stomachs of chicken goujons, chips and apple crumble with custard, the children are just getting ready for their evening activity of photo orienteering around the grounds.

Everyone has had a great day, and I am sure they will all be ready for a good night's sleep in a couple of hours time - I hope!

Wish us luck with getting a lot of very excited children to settle quickly and go to sleep.

Sleep tight.
