Warriner Kwik Cricket

On 5th June we took 4 teams to Warriner School for a large Kwik Cricket Festival. The teams were competing in different sections of the competition. All four teams really enjoyed the experience and all improved their cricket skills noticeably as the event went on.

Some of the year 5s had some particularly tough games against year 6 children, but all showed great determination and potential. The experience will help them massively when they return next year.

Our Year 6 boys team had some close matches, winning two and losing two but again all played brilliantly and were unlucky not to progress in the competition.

Our Year 6 girls team lost their first game, but grew into the competition, showing extra concentration in the following matches. They won their remaining group matches to set up a semi final against Deddington. Again they managed to find another step up in their performance to win narrowly and set up a final against Wroxton.

Some great bowling and sharp fielding left the team with a relatively modest target for victory. Some quick run scoring by Alice and Lily in particular set them well on their way and some careful batting and great calling between the wickets by the rest of the team saw them safely to the runs they needed. The girls team therefore qualify for the North Oxfordshire finals later in the term.

Well done to everyone for some great play and team spirit.
