This week we have used the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' within our maths lessons. We first had to estimate how many giant footsteps it would take to cross the hall. All the children wrote their estimate on a post it note and then we measured the width of the hall in giant footsteps. The next day we had to make a beanstalk picture, with one shorter than the giant's boot , one the same size and one beanstalk taller than his boot. Finally we each had a special magic bean ruler and we had to measure things in our classroom to see how many beans long things were !
